  • Qigong for MPN Patients: A Gentle Way to Support Wellbeing

Living with myeloproliferative neoplasms (MPN)  often means learning how to manage symptoms such as fatigue, heaviness, bone discomfort or difficulties concentrating. Alongside medical treatment, many patients explore complementary practices that support daily wellbeing. One of these practices is Qigong , a gentle movement and breathing practice that can help restore balance between body and mind. As part of the Wellbeing Project of the Global MPN Scientific Foundation , patients and caregivers can now explore this practice through guided sessions designed for the MPN community. Simon told us : I discovered Qigong during my own journey with MPN while searching for ways to better support my wellbeing in everyday life. Like many people living with MPN, I experienced periods of fatigue and heaviness that made daily routines more challenging. When I first tried Qigong, I was simply curious, but I quickly noticed how the practice helped me slow down, breathe more deeply and reconnect with my body. One of the most surprising things is how quickly many people feel the effects. After just one session, participants often report feeling calmer, breathing more easily and experiencing a lighter sensation in their body. For many, the results can be noticed the very same day . Qigong can be especially helpful for younger patients living with MPN , who often balance work, studies and family responsibilities while managing symptoms like fatigue or brain fog. Even a short practice can help release tension, reconnect with the body and gently restore energy. One of the most beautiful aspects of Qigong is its simplicity . It can be practiced anywhere , without equipment and always at your own pace .
