November 2021
The Canadian MPN Research Foundation has announced the upcoming launch of the MPN Genie® App, designed for patients, healthcare providers, and researchers in the MPN (myeloproliferative neoplasms) community. MPNs are rare, incurable blood cancers that originate from abnormal mutations in bone marrow stem cells.
The app serves as a quality-of-life tracking tool, allowing MPN patients to regularly monitor symptoms and indicators of their well-being. By sharing this data with their healthcare providers, patients can improve symptom management and enhance the quality of their interactions with doctors. Moreover, aggregated and anonymized data collected from the app will contribute to MPN research efforts. The MPN Genie App® was first introduced at the Canadian MPN Research Foundation's Annual Roundtable in November 2021 and is set to be officially launched for both iOS and Android on March 25, 2022.
The Canadian MPN Research Foundation aims to support Canadian MPN research, foster collaboration among researchers and patient support groups, and explore new treatment options and potential cures for MPNs such as polycythemia vera, essential thrombocythemia, and myelofibrosis.
