Today, June 6, is World Transplant Patients Day. This day invites us to reflect on the importance of donations for people living with serious and chronic conditions. For some individuals affected by Myelofibrosis (MF), a stem cell transplant is one of the few medical options that can significantly change the course of their disease.

What is World Transplant Patients Day?
Promoted by the World Health Organization (WHO) and national organizations like ONT Spain, this day focuses on raising awareness around the need for donation and providing visibility to patients who have gone through a transplant.
Donating organs and tissues can improve or extend the lives of people affected by complex diseases. In countries like Spain, advances in donation systems have made thousands of transplants possible in recent years.
Why It Matters in MPN field?
In Myeloproliferative Neoplasms (MPNs), particularly MF, allogeneic stem cell transplantation is the only treatment option with curative potential, though it’s not suitable for everyone.
Understanding the risks, timing, and personal experiences of those who’ve gone through it can help patients and caregivers make more informed decisions.
